Maroondah City Council is calling for local artists to submit photographic or digital artworks responding to the theme Celebrating local cultural vibrancy for display on signal boxes throughout Ringwood East and Croydon. The theme aims to raise awareness and community appreciation of the diversity of arts and cultural activity in Maroondah, including (but not limited to) local history, music, theatre, street art, art spaces, crafting and visual art. The beautification of signal boxes within the Croydon and Ringwood East responds to Council’s priorities for a culturally rich and vibrant city and also provides opportunities for local artists and creatives in line with COVID 19 Recovery priorities. It follows a successful 2019 signal box program in Ringwood on the theme of the ‘Anthropocene’.
