Fish Tank

Rather than treat the box as four flat surfaces to paint on, the students tried to incorporate the shape of the box into the artwork itself. Firstly we thought of turning the box into a shop, and then a robot, but the idea we finally chose was a fish-tank. In order for this to 'work' we needed to paint in a realistic style. The three grade six students who painted the box, researched tropical fish, and each chose a fish to reproduce on the electrical box. To ensure each individual fish was the same, the students made templates from recycled x-rays to help them. The seaweed, rocks etc. were added later.
