“Royal Queensland Art Society”
PAINTED BY:
Frances Rowland Wregg
DESCRIPTION:
The TSB sits outside the Royal Queensland Art Society Building in Spring Hill. The Society was formed in 1887 and pressure from its members led to the founding of the Queensland Art Gallery. The RQAS ‘Arts Mural’ is painted close to this TSB.
The design features tubes of the artist’s primary colours of blue, yellow and red ( cobalt, cadmium and crimson ) flowing out onto the TSB.
The right side of the TSB features the famous metamorphosing birds created by M.C. Escher, which will be familiar to artists and mathematicians.
